Organization Description
Village Enterprise’s mission is to end extreme poverty in rural Africa through entrepreneurship, innovation, and collective action. The organization empowers women, refugees, and youth to launch small businesses and savings groups, providing sustainable pathways out of poverty.
Village Enterprise operates in Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, and has impacted over 1.8 million lives by training entrepreneurs and launching businesses across Africa. The organization aims to lift 20 million people out of extreme poverty by 2030.
Project Overview
Village Enterprise, in partnership with HereWeGrow, is implementing the HARVEST Project (Households Advancing Resilience, Value Chains, and Sustainable Transformation) in Ethiopia’s Keffa Zone.
This three-year initiative supports smallholder coffee farmers through business training, seed capital, savings groups, and climate-smart agriculture interventions. The project aims to train 8,100 entrepreneurs, launch 2,700 businesses, and uplift over 52,000 individuals from poverty.
Position Overview
The Finance & Administration Associate will support daily financial and administrative operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and internal controls.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), with occasional weekend or holiday work based on program needs.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
A. Program Support
- Manage and organize grant application forms from the field
- Generate disbursement receipts before payments
- Reconcile grant receipts with bank payment sheets
- Maintain organized financial and grant documentation
B. General Finance
- Support budgeting and financial planning
- Assist in budget monitoring and utilization
- Prepare payroll and ensure timely payments (tax, pension)
- Manage petty cash and bank reconciliations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records
C. NetSuite Management
- Record daily transactions and upload supporting documents
- Review and correct transactions before month-end closing
D. Compliance & Safeguarding
- Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures
- Monitor advance settlements and compliance timelines
- Participate in safeguarding planning and quarterly visits
E. Audits
- Support internal and external audits
- Ensure timely availability of audit documents
- Assist in proper refiling post-audit
F. Administration
- Maintain field office facilities and assets
- Ensure procurement procedures are followed
- Support logistics, transport, and office operations
- Organize meetings, trainings, and workshops
G. Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Promote awareness on safeguarding risks and prevention
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies
- Report safeguarding incidents appropriately

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience (NGO experience preferred)
- Professional certification (ACCA, CPA) is an advantage
- Proficiency in English, Amharic, and local languages
