Job Opportunity: Protection Officer – GBV Case Management
Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly motivated Protection Officer for our operations in Hudet and Daka Suftu, Somali region.
About the Job
Under the direct guidance and supervision of the protection team leader, the GBV Case Management officer will be primarily responsible for:
- Ensuring the quality, effectiveness, and technical soundness of GBV case management services provided by caseworkers.
- Strengthening the technical capacity of the case management team.
- Ensuring proper documentation and adherence to standards.
- Promoting staff well-being and professional development.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Your main duties will include:
- Providing ongoing technical guidance and mentorship to GBV caseworkers.
- Promoting staff well-being by creating a supportive environment.
- Conducting individual supervision sessions with each GBV caseworker weekly.
- Facilitating bi-weekly case management team meetings.
- Performing thorough reviews of case files bi-weekly.
- Conducting regular capacity assessments of GBV caseworkers.
- Developing monthly supervision plans in collaboration with each caseworker.
- Monitoring the quality and consistency of data entry into systems.
- Providing direct supervision and mentoring to case management staff.
- Identifying training needs and developing capacity-building plans.
- Delivering training sessions and on-the-job support.
- Providing direct case management support for complex cases.
- Ensuring all interventions uphold the safety, dignity, and confidentiality of survivors.
- Undertaking any other protection-related tasks as assigned.
Reporting and Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintaining and regularly updating the case management database.
- Entering client data on the DRC Case Management IM system.
- Ensuring timely procurement of case management materials.
- Compiling case management weekly/monthly and annual reports.
Experience and Technical Competencies
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in GBV case management.
- Demonstrated organizational skills in complex circumstances.
- Field experience in an emergency context is highly desirable.
- A high level of personal initiative and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated people management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain working relationships.
- Cultural sensitivity and commitment to DRC values.
- Good communication skills.
- A sensitive approach to external representation.
Education
University degree in social work, social science, law, or other relevant fields from a recognized institution.
Language Requirements
Good proficiency in written and spoken English and Somali.
