Job Summary
The Shift Electrical Engineer manages shift handover logs, work orders, electrical wiring schematics, calibration records, spare parts stock levels, and plant risk logs. Core responsibilities include leading technical troubleshooting; monitoring MCCR panels and motors; executing Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA); running Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) isolation workflows; and helping install new machinery.
Key Roles & Operational Responsibilities
1. Shift Leadership & Preventative Maintenance Management
- Coordinate, coach, and manage the level-one electrical maintenance teams during the active production shift.
- Formulate shift work plans, prioritize maintenance tickets, and complete detailed logbook handovers before finishing a shift.
- Track shift technicians' performance and lead technical training sessions to resolve on-site machine faults.
- Check spare parts stock levels and partner with the Maintenance Planner to order replacement components.
- Maintain all specialized tools, high-voltage test equipment, and active working zones in clean, safe condition.
2. High-Precision Electrical Diagnostics, Calibration & Modifications
- Monitor and evaluate the daily operating conditions of high-speed packaging and processing equipment.
- Oversee and perform inspections, cleanings, and maintenance tasks on industrial electric motors, MCCR panels, exhaust fans, and air filters.
- Manage, read, and interpret complex machine electrical blueprints and schematics to handle rewiring and parameter setups.
- Run technical equipment calibrations, coordinate machine modifications, and resolve outstanding work orders or safety tags.
- Actively support the installation, wiring, and testing of new plant machinery.
3. Industrial Safety, Defect Escalation & Quality Control
- Apply modern fault-finding methods and conduct strict Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to stop recurring breakdowns.
- Execute full Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) safety isolation steps on equipment before letting teams begin repairs.
- Maintain machine reliability to minimize waste, boost efficiency, and hit daily production outputs.
- Flag and report any operational defects or equipment non-conformance to the Packaging Engineer following plant escalation rules.
Foundational Capabilities & Prerequisites
Required Technical Profile & Academic Track
- Academic Foundation: A Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc.) or Technical Level V Qualification in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent automation discipline.
- Manufacturing Longevity: A minimum of five to six (5–6) years of clear, hands-on work experience operating inside a high-volume industrial manufacturing facility.
- Technical Skill Baseline: Proven experience in heavy equipment maintenance, industrial electrical setups, power distribution, and technical automation control boards.
