Job Summary:
The Accountant will be responsible for managing the company's day-to-day financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting in accordance with Ethiopian financial laws and the Ethiopian Customs and Revenue Authority (ECRA) regulations. The role includes handling tax matters, preparing financial reports, maintaining records, and supporting audits to uphold transparency and accountability within the organization.

Reports To: Finance Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and reconcile all daily financial transactions including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with Ethiopian accounting standards.
- Ensure proper documentation, classification, and posting of all financial entries in the company's accounting system.
- Manage statutory obligations including VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax, and Pension contributions in compliance with ECRA rules.
- Prepare and file accurate tax returns and ensure timely submission to the Ethiopian Customs and Revenue Authority.
- Assist in annual external and internal audits by providing all necessary financial records and explanations.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable, and ensure timely settlement of company obligations.
- Support inventory valuation, cost accounting, and financial analysis related to production and sales.
- Maintain confidentiality of all financial information and uphold the company's financial policies and internal controls.
- Liaise with banks, suppliers, and government offices on financial and tax matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 4+ years of experience in finance and related works
- In-depth knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, customs regulations, and ECRA accounting requirements.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
