Job Summary
Plan International is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to support the Influencing & Communication Department by providing strategic leadership for both internal and external communications. The role focuses on strengthening the organization’s public profile, ensuring consistent, rights-based messaging, and supporting advocacy, program implementation, and fundraising initiatives.
Job Requirement
- Qualification: BA or Master’s Degree in Political Science & International Relations, Law, Development Studies, Communications, Social Sciences, Public Health, or related field. Advanced training in advocacy, public policy, or human rights is an asset.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience, preferably within humanitarian settings, international NGOs, or multilateral organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of communication and advocacy strategies.
- Manage internal and external communications to ensure consistent messaging.
- Build and maintain relationships with media, partners, and stakeholders.
- Develop high-quality content, including press releases, reports, newsletters, and social media materials.
- Oversee digital communication platforms and social media engagement.
- Support fundraising and program visibility through effective communication.
- Coordinate campaigns and advocacy initiatives at national and regional levels.
- Provide communication training and capacity building for staff.
- Handle media inquiries and manage communication during sensitive or crisis situations.

Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Amharic (written and spoken) is essential.
- Knowledge of additional local languages is an advantage.

- Adherence to organizational code of conduct and ethical standards.
