Job Summary
Habesha Steel Mills PLC is seeking dynamic and technically proficient individuals to join its Electrical Engineering Department at the Dukem plant. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of heavy-duty steel production machinery, maintaining electrical systems, supporting industrial automation processes, and implementing technical improvements to optimize plant operations and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial electrical systems including substations, transformers, motors, and control panels.
- Manage and program PLC systems (Siemens, Schneider, etc.) and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to support automated production operations.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
- Monitor plant electrical systems to ensure operational safety, efficiency, and compliance with technical standards.
- Supervise electricians and technical staff during maintenance and installation activities.
- Support installation, commissioning, and testing of new electrical and manufacturing equipment.
- Analyze electrical faults and recommend practical solutions to improve system performance.
- Prepare technical reports, maintenance records, and equipment performance documentation.
- Coordinate with production and maintenance teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures and electrical engineering standards.
Educational Qualification
- BSc Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
Work Experience
- Minimum of 3–6 years of relevant experience, preferably in a steel mill, manufacturing plant, or heavy industrial environment.
- Experience in industrial automation and heavy machinery maintenance is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems, PLC troubleshooting, and high-voltage electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), transformers, and power distribution systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word).
- Good understanding of electrical maintenance procedures and industrial safety practices.
