Job Description
The IT Assistant (or IT Support Assistant) is responsible for helping maintain an organization’s computer systems, ensuring users can perform their tasks effectively by resolving technical issues. This role involves both hardware and software support, basic network troubleshooting, and helping with system setups and maintenance in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to staff on hardware, software, and network issues (in-person, remotely, or via phone).
- Install, configure, and update computer systems, software, and peripheral devices (printers, scanners, etc.).
- Assist in user account setup, password resets, and email configuration.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic network issues (Wi-Fi, connectivity, system sharing, etc.).
- Perform regular system maintenance and updates.
- Support data backups and assist in recovery operations.
- Help ensure cybersecurity best practices are followed (e.g., antivirus updates, access controls).
- Support meeting room tech setups (projectors, conferencing tools, etc.).
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and common office applications.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts (LAN, WAN, IP, DNS).
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks.
- Customer-service oriented.
Soft Skills:
- Patience and a helpful attitude.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Team player but also able to work independently.
Education and Experience:
- Degree in Information Technology (IT), high school diploma, or equivalent.
- Certification in IT-related fields.
- 1–3 years of experience in IT support or similar roles.
Salary: as per organizational scale.
