About the Role
ISON Group in Ethiopia is seeking a highly experienced and respected Medical Director to lead clinical operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and uphold the highest standards of patient care. This is a senior leadership role based in Addis Ababa, requiring a seasoned physician with strong clinical governance experience, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of Ethiopian healthcare regulations.
Experience in telehealth or digital health will be considered a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Governance
- Lead all clinical operations and ensure excellence in patient safety and quality of care
- Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies, SOPs, and treatment guidelines
- Oversee clinical audits, performance metrics, and quality improvement initiatives
- Ensure adherence to ethical, professional, and medical best practices
Regulatory Compliance & Licensing
- Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian healthcare laws, medical council requirements, and licensing regulations
- Serve as the primary clinical liaison with regulatory authorities and health institutions
- Maintain updated knowledge of national healthcare policies and regulatory changes
- Support inspections, audits, accreditation, and regulatory reporting
Telehealth & Digital Health Oversight (Preferred)
- Oversee telemedicine and remote care clinical protocols
- Ensure clinical governance for virtual healthcare services
- Support safe, compliant, and effective telehealth delivery models
Medical Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise, mentor, and guide physicians, nurses, and clinical staff
- Lead recruitment, training, clinical performance reviews, and continuous medical education
- Foster a culture of accountability, excellence, and patient-centered care
Operational & Strategic Collaboration
- Partner with operations, quality, technology, and business teams to optimize care delivery
- Provide medical leadership for service expansion, innovation, and growth initiatives
- Support partnerships with hospitals, insurers, employers, and healthcare institutions
- Represent ISON Group in professional and medical forums when required
Communication & Patient Experience
- Ensure high standards of communication, empathy, and professionalism in patient interactions
- Act as a trusted clinical spokesperson for internal and external stakeholders
- Promote a strong patient experience and service excellence culture
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Medical Degree (MD / MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
- Licensed medical practitioner in Ethiopia (or eligible for Ethiopian medical licensing)
- Minimum 8–10 years of clinical experience, including leadership or supervisory roles
- Strong understanding of Ethiopian healthcare regulations, compliance frameworks, and medical governance
- Demonstrated experience in clinical governance, quality management, and patient safety
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Experience in telehealth, digital health, or remote care is a strong advantage
- Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary clinical teams
