About the Job
KGM is searching for experienced Production Geologists to collect, analyze, and interpret geological data that supports short-term mine planning and daily production activities. The role focuses on grade control, ore body identification, minimizing dilution, and reducing ore loss through close coordination with mining engineers, planners, and processing teams. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient and safe mining operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, classify, and map ore zones to control ore grades and minimize dilution from waste rock in open pit operations
- Conduct field surveys, log drill cores and rock chips, and collect geological samples
- Analyze geological data to support resource delineation and production optimization
- Use geological software such as Database, GIS, Leapfrog, or similar tools to create and update 3D geological models
- Provide direct on-site support by spotting ore for excavators and guiding production crews after blasting
- Work closely with mining engineers, planners, and processing teams to integrate geological data into mine plans
- Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate geological databases
- Track production grades, stockpile grades, and reconciliation data
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Participate in risk assessments to identify and mitigate geological hazards

Education & Experience
- BA or MSc Degree in Geology or related field from a recognized institution
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in open-pit production geology within a mining environment
- Hands-on experience in sampling practices, grade control systems, and reconciliation processes
- Proven experience using geological software such as Database, GIS, Leapfrog, or similar platforms
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of geological principles and mineral resource evaluation
- Good knowledge of quality control and quality assurance procedures
- Ability to interpret geological data and develop accurate resource models
- Strong 3D interpretation and modelling capability
- Advanced Excel skills and experience in exploratory data analysis
- Strong analytical ability to verify and validate geological information
- Ability to prepare technical reports and documentation
