Horizon Addis Tyre Manufacturing P.L.C was established in October 1972 G.C with full ownership of the Ethiopian government formerly known as Addis Tyre Share Company and at that time officially inaugurated by Emperor Hailesilasie Initially the company privatized with a joint venture modality in June, 2004 and Slovakian MATADOR acquired 61% share and the company name became MATADOR-Addis Tyre S.C. Then MATADOR was decided to leave and after that on April, 2011 Horizon Plantations, which is part of MIDROC group, took over the shares of 61% MATADOR and the company became Horizon Addis Tyre. Finally, in 2013 G.C the remaining 39% of share, which was in the hand of the Ethiopian government, was also acquired by Horizon Plantations.
History of Production of tyres in Ethiopia goes back to 1972, when Addis Tyre S.C. (ATC) the first of its kind in the country was established with annual production capacity of 60,000 tyres and 45,000 tubes with a total labor force of 260 people.
Horizon Plantation P.L.C after took over the company, moves its focus to new tyre type development, industrialization and production projects by using current technology of radial and bias. By implementing this project, HATM has increased its product type from 4 types to 11 in main categories and developed more than 54 types of tyre that enables the company to have more market share.
Qualification
- Technical and Vocational school/TVET (10+3) Diploma in General Mechanic or General metal Fabrication and Assembly.
