Job Summary
The Risk & Compliance Manager will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact the organization’s operations, financial stability, and reputation. The role involves developing risk management frameworks, implementing policies, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements in Ethiopia. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, knowledge of risk management principles, and experience in risk assessment within the Ethiopian business and regulatory environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Risk Identification & Assessment:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats to the organization (financial, operational, strategic, compliance, and reputational risks).
- Analyze internal and external risk factors affecting the business in Ethiopia.
- Develop risk models and methodologies to evaluate risk exposure.
2. Risk Mitigation & Control:
- Design and implement risk management strategies to minimize losses.
- Recommend corrective actions and risk mitigation measures.
- Monitor risk controls and ensure adherence to risk policies.
3. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with Ethiopian laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Stay updated on changes in local risk-related legislation (e.g., National Bank of Ethiopia directives, anti-money laundering laws, etc.).
- Prepare reports for regulatory bodies as required.
4. Risk Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare risk reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Present findings on risk exposure and mitigation strategies.
- Train staff on risk awareness and best practices.
5. Internal Audit & Process Improvement:
- Work with internal audit teams to assess risk management effectiveness.
- Review business processes and recommend improvements to reduce vulnerabilities.
6. Crisis Management & Business Continuity:
- Assist in developing business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
- Participate in crisis response and recovery efforts when risks materialize.
Qualifications
- BA Degree in Economics or Management or Accounting or other Business related fields Or MA Degree in Economics or Management or Accounting or other Business related fields with 8-10 years of experience respectively of which 3 years in a Senior Management role.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or import export sectors risk management is an advantage.

Working Conditions
