Job Description
The Script Writer (Comedy) is responsible for developing creative, engaging, and humorous scripts for TV programs and media content. The role requires strong storytelling ability, creative scene development skills, and the capacity to transform trending topics and everyday situations into entertaining comedic content while working closely with production and content teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and refine scripts for TV programs and media content.
- Support scene planning with creative ideas and develop visual storytelling concepts while maintaining program flow and sequence.
- Adapt trending topics and everyday situations into comedic content.
- Ensure scripts are original, accurate, engaging, and aligned with production requirements.
- Develop relatable characters, humorous storylines, punchlines, hooks, and cliffhanger endings.
- Create and finalize storyboards for comedy shows and segments.
- Revise scripts based on feedback and production needs.
- Collaborate closely with production teams, actors, and content creators to bring concepts to life.
- Utilize AI tools effectively to improve, develop, and optimize creative script ideas.
Requirements
- Ability to write comedic content effectively.
- Experience in scriptwriting, directing, television, digital content creation, or film production.
- Strong knowledge of script structure, storytelling techniques, and basic directing skills.
- Fluency in both English and Amharic across all four language skills.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with AI tools and prompt development for scriptwriting purposes.
- Creative thinking with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet submission deadlines.
- Previous experience in media, comedy scriptwriting, or directing is an advantage.
