Purpose of the Job
To oversee and optimize warehouse operations, ensuring efficient storage, handling, and distribution of materials while maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Plan, organize, and supervise daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, and dispatch of materials.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of goods in warehouses, open yards, and scrap stores.
- Oversee loading/unloading operations and inspect incoming/outgoing materials for quality and compliance.
- Verify inspection certificates, goods receipt notes (GRNs), and issue vouchers for accuracy.
- Ensure purchased items meet company specifications before acceptance.
Inventory & Compliance Control
- Monitor warehouse storage conditions to prevent damage, loss, or obsolescence.
- Supervise material inspection, classification, and maintenance per safety data sheets (SDS).
- Enforce compliance with company policies for goods receipt, issuance, and documentation.
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and evaluate warehouse staff to enhance productivity and accountability.
- Address disciplinary issues and foster a safety-conscious work environment.
Strategic & Administrative Duties
- Develop and implement warehouse policies, procedures, and budget plans.
- Prepare and present operational reports to senior management.
- Represent the division in cross-functional meetings and committees.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Master’s degree in Materials Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field plus 6 years’ experience (3 in supervision).
- OR Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 8 years’ experience (4 in supervision).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in inventory/WMS software and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of safety regulations (e.g., SDS, OSHA standards).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
