Job Summary:
We are looking for a Chinese Translator to join our team permanently. The Chinese Translator is responsible for providing real-time, on-site translation services during patient appointments, consultations, and other care-related interactions in the OPD and IPD. The incumbent will accurately interpret and translate conversations, medical terminology, instructions, and documentation between primarily Amharic, English & other local languages to facilitate effective communication and understanding between patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time, on-site translation services during patient appointments, consultations, and other care-related interactions in the OPD and IPD
- Accurately interpret and translate conversations, medical terminology, instructions, and documentation between English and Amharic
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information at all times
- Assist with the translation of written materials such as consent forms, discharge instructions, and educational resources
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify information and resolve any language-related misunderstandings
- Maintain familiarity with medical terminology and procedures to provide appropriate translation
- Act as a cultural broker to bridge gaps and facilitate mutual understanding between patients and providers
- Participate in training programs to continuously improve translation skills and medical knowledge
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of translation services provided
- Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards
Qualifications:
- Fluency in written and spoken English & Amharic
- Demonstrated experience as a professional translator/interpreter, preferably in a healthcare setting
- Strong medical terminology knowledge and familiarity with healthcare procedures and processes
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
