Job Summary
The finance manager is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of JaRco Consulting PLC. The manager will lead the finance team, develop financial strategies, manage donor compliance, and ensure strong internal financial controls. This role is especially important as JaRco manages complex donor-funded contracts, including those currently with international organizations such as WFP and Mastercard, including others.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer, JaRco Consulting
The ideal candidate should have a strong track record in NGO finance and grants management, combined with experience working in a Private Limited Company (PLC) environment. The candidate will bring both strategic leadership and hands-on expertise in financial management, Grant Management, budgeting, compliance, and donor reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
- Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports for management, donors, and regulators.
- Support project budgeting and track budget performance across all projects.
- Prepare quarterly narrative and financial reports for the Mastercard Foundation project.
- Support monthly financial reporting for WFP in addition to other client assignments.
- Manage cash flow, bank account monitoring, and payment processing.
Donor Compliance and Contract Support
- Follow donor financial rules, currently for Mastercard Foundation and WFP.
- Review financial terms of contracts and sub-agreements.
- Support project audits and donor financial reviews.
Internal Controls and Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain financial policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper documentation for all transactions.
- Support timely tax filings and statutory reporting.
Coordination and Team Leadership
- Work with program, operations, and logistics teams on project spending and documentation.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting a high-performance culture.
- Build staff capacity in budgeting, compliance, and financial systems.
Qualification
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 8 years of progressive financial management experience.
- Experience with donor-funded projects, including reporting and compliance.
- Experience working in a PLC environment in Ethiopia.
- Strong understanding of Ethiopian tax law and financial reporting.
- Experience with budgets, project accounting, and financial analysis.
- Strong English and Amharic skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- CPA or ACCA is an advantage.
- Experience in consulting or research environments.
