The One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI) is a nonprofit organization advancing One Health and sustainable development by addressing the interconnected challenges of human, animal, plant, and environmental health. Through donor funded programs, capacity strengthening initiatives, digital platforms, and community driven interventions, OHDI works to deliver integrated and practical solutions that improve lives and ecosystems.
As part of our commitment to building the next generation of One Health professionals, OHDI is pleased to open applications for the OHDI Internship Program 2026.
This internship program is designed to provide graduates with meaningful, hands-on experience across multidisciplinary One Health program areas, while strengthening professional skills, applied learning, and career readiness.
Overview of the Internship Program
The OHDI Internship Program offers early career professionals the opportunity to contribute to real world projects that sit at the intersection of public health, animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and development practice.
Interns will work closely with program teams to support research, implementation, coordination, communications, and knowledge management activities aligned with OHDI’s mission and strategic priorities.
Available Program Areas
Applicants may apply to one of the following program areas based on their background and interests:
- Antimicrobial Resistance Mitigation and Stewardship
- Animal Welfare & Sustainable Livestock System
- Conservation and Climate Action
- Sustainable (Plant) Food Systems
- One Health Technologies
- Zoonoses and Health Security
Each program area offers exposure to policy, research, community engagement, and systems based One Health approaches.
Internship Duration and Structure
- Duration: 3 Months (about 20 hours/week of time commitment)
- Mode: Remote/Hybrid work setting
- Start Period: February 1, 2026
Interns are expected to commit time, meet assigned deliverables, and actively participate in assigned program/project activities throughout the internship period.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the OHDI Internship Program, applicants must:
- Be a graduate with at least a Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrate interest in One Health, development, or related fields
- Show willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute to multidisciplinary teams
