Junior Road Freight Officer

About the Job

We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented professional to manage fleet operations and store activities. The role involves overseeing vehicle movement, driver performance, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with transport and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in fleet management and store/inventory operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily truck movements and dispatch schedules
• Monitor fuel consumption and improve fleet efficiency
• Supervise driver performance, safety compliance, and discipline
• Coordinate vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repairs
• Ensure all trucks have valid licenses, insurance, and regulatory permits
• Maintain compliance with transport and safety standards
• Receive, inspect, and issue spare parts and consumables
• Maintain accurate stock records using GRN (Goods Receipt Note) and GIN (Goods Issue Note)
• Monitor stock levels and manage reorder points to avoid shortages
• Prepare daily fleet performance and inventory reports
• Reconcile physical stock with system records
• Maintain proper documentation and filing systems

Qualification Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Auto-Mechanics, Transport Management, or related fields
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in fleet operations or transport-related store/inventory management

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of transport and fleet operations
• Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience with fleet tracking or inventory management systems is an advantage
• Strong reporting and documentation abilities
• Effective record-keeping (both physical and digital)
• High level of integrity and accountability
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with drivers and mechanics
