Senior Accountant – Digital Accounting, Compliance & Warehouse Governance

We are hiring a Senior Accountant – Digital Accounting, Compliance & Warehouse Governance to lead and strengthen our accounting function, ensure rigorous compliance with Ethiopian tax and regulatory requirements, drive digital transformation in financial processes, and enhance financial controls across our warehouse and inventory operations.

This new position has been created to further strengthen our finance department as the company grows. This addition will enhance collaboration, help distribute the workload, and support our continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Record Keeping & Reporting

• Lead maintenance of accurate and timely financial records.
• Prepare detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Oversee reconciliation of bank statements, receivables, payables, and general ledger accounts.
• Deliver clear, structured financial reports to support management decision-making.

Tax Compliance

• Manage preparation and submission of VAT, withholding tax, payroll tax, and annual income tax filings.
• Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian tax laws and deadlines.
• Monitor regulatory changes and proactively advise the team.

Month-End & Year-End Closing

• Take ownership of month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and summary reports ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Facilitate audit readiness and support audit activities

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls aligned with accounting standards and local regulations.
• Identify financial risks and lead risk mitigation strategies.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Support preparation and review of budgets and forecasts.
• Analyze variances and recommend actionable improvements.
• Assist in cost monitoring and financial planning.

Payroll & Employee Benefits

• Manage payroll processes ensuring tax compliance and accuracy.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure timely disbursements.

Audit & External Collaboration

• Coordinate and lead external audit activities.
• Liaise with tax authorities and regulatory bodies on compliance matters.

Digital Process Improvement

• Lead the digitization and automation of financial systems and reporting.
• Identify and implement digital tools to streamline accounting workflows.
• Champion finance digital transformation and dashboard reporting.

Warehouse Financial Oversight & Governance

• Collaborate closely with warehouse operations to align financial controls with stock movements.
• Ensure inventory and asset data is accurately captured in financial systems.
• Support digital inventory tracking and regular stock reconciliations.
• Monitor and report on asset movement, losses, and warehouse accountability.

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of professional accounting experience with deep knowledge of Ethiopian tax and financial regulations.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Solid understanding of inventory-related accounting and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in e-commerce, logistics, or fast-paced technology-driven companies.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations, inventory management, and stock control systems.
• Proven ability to build and improve financial systems from the ground up.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams.
