Job Summary: The Senior Accountant will oversee the company’s financial operations, ensure accurate and timely reporting, maintain compliance with Ethiopian financial and tax regulations, and provide financial insights to support management decisions. The position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced professional capable of supervising accounting processes and guiding junior staff within the finance department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise daily accounting operations and ensure timely recording of transactions.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Ensure proper reconciliation of bank accounts, receivables, payables, and general ledger accounts.
- Oversee tax preparation and submission (VAT, Withholding, Income Tax, Pension, etc.) in compliance with Ethiopian regulations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.
- Coordinate with auditors during internal and external audits and ensure all supporting documents are properly maintained.
- Review vouchers, payment requests, and journal entries.
- Train, supervise, and support junior and mid-level accountants.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and ensure data integrity.
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 5 and over years of relevant work experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, accounting standards, and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Peachtree, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Excellent command of MS Excel, Word, and reporting tools.
- Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
