Job Description:
The social worker is responsible for supporting gender and child protection officers by:
- Working closely with local faith communities
- Facilitating participation and supporting transformative change
- Providing access to protection services for children and women
- Mobilizing children in schools and local communities
- Strengthening relationships with community-based protection systems
Major Responsibilities / Job Description:
- Facilitate local faith communities to engage in consultations
- Ensure faith community members mobilize for collective action
- Follow up and translate information to local languages
- Assist project officer in assessments and operational planning
- Produce periodic reports on project activities
- Support workshops, training, and community dialogue sessions
- Collaborate with local authorities and relevant government sectors
- Create linkages for care and case management support
- Provide individual psychosocial support to women and girls

Afar Region Dubti Woreda; and Somali Harorys Woreda
Number of Positions Required:
One
Required Education, Training, License, Registration, and Certification:
- of cases has got referral service (report) #of girls and women who received psychosocial support
Required Professional Experience:
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in integrated programming related to:
- Gender equality
- Women's empowerment
- Child protection
Additional Skills Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning
- Knowledge of social norm change communication programming
- Awareness of community-based protection mechanisms
Required Language(s):
Effective in written and verbal communication in English; speaking ‘Somali’ local languages is preferable.
