The Opportunity
The Business Development Lead plays a pivotal role in translating strategic vision into actionable outcomes across the BDD function. This role supports in aligning business development efforts with Plan International Ethiopia’s strategy, driving targeted growth, donor engagement, and high-quality proposal development. The Lead fosters strategic relationships that support grant acquisition and portfolio expansion.
Collaboration
The Business Development Lead collaborates with:
- Thematic Sector Leads
- Program Insight Lead
- Joint planning and strategic alignment
- Coordination in proposal development
The Individual
Qualifications:
- Degree in Project Management, Development Studies, Social Studies, Marketing, Economics, International Relations, or related fields
- Minimum of 7 years experience in business development, grant management, or donor engagement
- Solid understanding of donor landscapes, funding mechanisms, and proposal development processes
- Demonstrated experience in programming, preferably in multi-sectoral humanitarian and development interventions
- Excellent proposal writing skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across cross-functional teams
- Ability to develop effective working relationships across a network

Safeguarding and Inclusion

- Understand and practice responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies
- Ensure all staff are inducted on their role in upholding safeguarding and GEI policies
- Embed global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality in day-to-day work
- Contribute to global efforts for safeguarding and GEI, ensuring relevant reporting and data submission

- This position is only open to Ethiopian Nationals, who must be eligible to live and work in Ethiopia
