Position Overview

Our company is looking for a skilled Journalist to join our News team.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality news content that resonates with our audience, ensuring journalistic integrity and creativity in storytelling.

The journalist will be reporting directly to the News Director.

Duties & Responsibilities

• News Production: Facilitate and execute news productions under the supervision of the news director.
• Script Preparation: Collaborate with the News Director to prepare script breakdowns and recording schedules.
• Voice Over: Perform voice-over duties for news segments, ensuring clarity and professionalism in delivery.
• Event Coverage: Cover news events as necessary, gathering information and interviews to create comprehensive reports.
• Journalistic Standards: Uphold newsroom journalistic standards, ensuring ethical reporting practices.
• Crisis Management: Plan for unexpected events and react effectively in crises.
• Story Idea Development: Maintain extensive working files of potential story ideas.
• Research and Fact-Checking: Conduct thorough research and fact-checking to ensure accuracy and credibility.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years proven experience in journalism.
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and in high-pressure environments.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel out of town for training and meetings as necessary.
• Highly motivated and self-directed.
