Hilina Enriched Foods PLC is a joint venture between Ethiopian and French investors established in 1998. The Company is engaged in the production of nutritious products for the prevention and treatment of different forms of malnutrition in children and adults. The company produces its main products under a franchise agreement with the French company, Nuttiest. It is a very professional working environment with high ethical standards applied in all of its operations. Due to the nature of the products and the market we cater to, we work under very strict international regulations and serve the institutional market in Ethiopia and neighboring countries.
Basic Functions
Under the supervision of the Local Procurement & Property Administration Head, carries out local purchasing activities of the company, ensures smooth communication with all parties involved, monitors field status, and ensures that raw materials and products are procured and transported timely in a cost-effective manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Carries out local purchasing activities of the company.
- Ensures that local purchasing activities are carried out in line with company policies and procedures.
- Corresponds with different government and non-government organizations.
- Reviews purchase requisitions from local sources for proper authorization and budget clearance.
- Ensures the accuracy of part numbers, specifications, quality standards, units of quantity, and related details.
- Prepares and distributes invitation letters to suppliers or agents for quotations.
- Follows up the arrival of purchased items and communicates with suppliers and agents.
- Controls the collection of purchased items after thorough inspection.
- Follows up inspection of purchased items and reports damaged or short-landed goods to supervisors and suppliers.
- Follows up recovery or compensation as per agreements, purchase orders, and procedures.
- Ensures that raw materials purchased from domestic sources are transported timely in a cost-effective manner.
- Ensures systematic maintenance of documents, records, files, and forms.
- Follows up issues of non-compliance in collaboration with concerned officials.
- Maintains data and updates suppliers’ mailing lists, email addresses, catalogs, and related records.
- Maintains filing systems for local procurement ensuring adherence to company policies.
- Prepares regular reports regarding local purchasing operations.
- Ensures that all problems related to the food safety management system are reported to the immediate supervisor and Quality personnel.
- Ensures compliance with local, national, and international environmental laws and client environmental requirements.
- Ensures reduction targets are in place for environmental aspects such as water consumption, waste, energy, and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Determines environmental aspects and impacts and devises methods to prevent or reduce these impacts.
- Uses the 3R + 1R rule (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink) to minimize environmental impact.
- Implements, documents, maintains, and continually improves the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015).
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirement
Education: BA degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management, or any other related field of study.
Experience: 4 years.
