Job Summary
The Principal Trade Service Officer is responsible for overseeing international trade finance operations and ensuring efficient processing of trade service transactions within the bank. The role involves handling complex trade finance instruments such as Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, and documentary collections while ensuring strict compliance with international trade regulations, banking policies, and risk management procedures. The position also focuses on delivering high-level customer service to importers, exporters, and corporate clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and supervise international trade finance transactions including Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, and documentary collections.
- Ensure compliance with international trade rules and standards such as UCP 600, ISBP, URDG, and other applicable regulations.
- Review trade documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with banking policies and international trade requirements.
- Monitor and manage operational and financial risks related to trade finance activities.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior trade service officers and branch staff.
- Maintain strong relationships with importers, exporters, correspondent banks, and other stakeholders.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve trade-related issues professionally and efficiently.
- Prepare trade finance reports, transaction records, and performance updates for management review.
- Ensure timely processing of transactions while maintaining high service quality and operational efficiency.
- Support audit, compliance, and regulatory review processes related to trade service operations.
Educational Qualification
- BA Degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance, Banking & Finance, Business Management, Economics, Management, or related fields.
Experience Requirement
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the banking industry.
- At least 2 years of experience as Senior Trade Service Officer or in a related position.
- Experience in international trade finance operations and trade documentation is highly preferred.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of international trade finance operations and banking procedures.
- Good understanding of UCP 600, ISBP, URDG, and other international trade regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment skills.
- Strong customer handling and relationship management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple transactions effectively.
- Good computer application skills and familiarity with banking systems.
- High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
