Job Purpose
The Emergency Response Project Coordinator will provide project leadership, technical oversight, and operational coordination for the integrated humanitarian response project across agriculture, nutrition, MPCA (multi-purpose cash assistance), and other cross-cutting activities. The coordinator will lead project staff, planning, implementation, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring of all project components while ensuring timely and effective delivery aligned with donor guidelines and organizational standards.
Major Responsibilities
Project Management and Coordination
- Provide overall coordination and technical support for integrated sector activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives and emergency standards.
- Lead the development of detailed implementation plans (DIPs), budgets, and procurement schedules for timely execution.
- Supervise and mentor sector-specific staff and ensure cross-sectoral collaboration.
- Regularly update about the humanitarian context of the project location.
Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
- Liaise with zonal and local government offices (DRM, Health, Agriculture, Women & Social Affairs), community leaders, and implementing partners.
- Represent the organization at field-level coordination platforms, joint assessments, and donor site visits.
- Support advocacy and donor communications through briefing materials and updates.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEAL)
- Oversee project monitoring activities, including PDMs, market assessments, GBV safety audits, and routine data collection.
- Ensure proper documentation of project results, success stories, and lessons learned.
- Work closely with MEAL staff to ensure compliance with reporting timelines and indicator tracking.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure project activities meet sectoral quality standards, protection mainstreaming guidelines, and safeguarding requirements.
- Ensure implementation of community feedback mechanisms and incorporate feedback into ongoing programming.
- Monitor risk factors (e.g., conflict, access, security) and adjust plans accordingly.
Operations & Logistics Oversight
- Coordinate procurement, logistics, and distribution of goods and services in collaboration with operations teams.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, asset management, and budget monitoring.
- Guide recruitment and onboarding of emergency staff in alignment with P&C guidelines.
Communication and Working Relationships
- Maintain regular and effective communication with internal departments—including MEAL, Finance, Supply Chain, P&C—to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with local government agencies (e.g., DRM, Health, Agriculture, Women & Social Affairs), community leaders, and partner organizations.
- Represent the project in coordination forums, donor briefings, and joint assessments at the zonal and woreda levels.
- Facilitate two-way communication with beneficiaries and community-based structures, ensuring accountability, feedback, and inclusion are embedded in all project activities.
- Support timely documentation and sharing of progress, challenges, and success stories with internal and external audiences.
Required Education, Training, License, Registration, and Certification
BA/BSc Degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Economics, Development Studies, Rural Development.
Required Professional Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in coordinating emergency response or multi-sector humanitarian programs, with strong technical understanding of cash, financial inclusion, protection, agriculture, or nutrition.
- Proven experience in team management, partner coordination, and donor engagement.
- Familiarity with LMMS, MEAL tools, and humanitarian standards (e.g., Sphere, CHS, CPMS).
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- Program management skills, Participatory M&E, Results-Based Management, community participation, Participatory Rural Appraisal, Participatory Learning & Action.
- Experience with complex M&E systems is preferred (Excellent experience in budget preparation and report writing).
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
Frequent field-level trips to operational Woredas and Kebeles. Frequent domestic travel within the program area.
Language Requirements
Fluent in oral and written English.
