Responsibilities
- Quality Control and Assurance:
- Perform and supervise chemical and physical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures at all stages of production.
- Ensure all products meet established specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments.
- Process Management and Optimization:
- Monitor and manage production processes to reduce loss and improve efficiency.
- Help develop and implement new procedures and methods for analysis or production.
- Regulatory and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations and manage compliance.
- Team Leadership and Training:
- Manage, guide, and train subordinate chemists and laboratory staff.
- Oversee daily management of the quality control department
Qualification:
- MSc/BSc in industrial/applied chemistry, chemical engineering, and related fields.
- Work Experience: Minimum four/five years of relevant work experience.
- Core Knowledge Areas:
- Lipid Chemistry (e.g., structure of triglycerides, fatty acid composition).
- Oil and Fat Processing (e.g., oil extraction, refining, modification processes like hydrogenation).
- Quality Parameters (e.g., iodine value, peroxide value, acid value, and moisture content).
- Contaminants and Degradation (e.g., rancidity, detection of heavy metals).
- Essential Skills:
- Analytical Chemistry (Proficiency in techniques like Spectroscopy (FAAS), Chromatography (GC/LC), and Titration)
- Data Interpretation (Using statistical tools like Principal Component Analysis - PCA).
