Job Opportunity: Protection Assistant - Emergency Response
The Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly motivated Protection Assistant - Emergency Response for our operations in Sheraro.
Overall Purpose of the Role
The Protection Assistant will be directly responsible for:
- Implementation of protection and EORE interventions in accordance with minimum standards and DRC Ethiopia's protection strategy.
- Delivering quality protection to conflicted-affected communities.
- Identifying protection risks through ProMo tools and information dissemination activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Responsibilities:
- Collect protection risks and needs through protection monitoring assessment tools.
- Deliver Explosive Risk Education to communities exposed to possible hazards.
- Lead targeting, beneficiary selection, and distribution of multi-purpose cash and dignity kits.
- Implement HLP information dissemination and facilitate training for local actors.
- Ensure timely referral of individuals in need of protection services.
- Adhere to ethical data collection and protection protocols.
- Follow all protection guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Carry out additional protection activities as assigned.
Reporting and Administrative Responsibilities:
- Support provision of regular updates on project implementation.
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports on protection activities.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of project activities.
Experience and Technical Competencies
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in humanitarian protection or a relevant social service field.
- Experience in the Tigray region is strongly preferred.
- Proven record of community engagement and consultation.
- Technical understanding of core protection concepts and strategies.
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
Education
University degree in social work, social science, law, or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
Language Requirements
Excellent skills in speaking, reading, and writing English and Tigrigna.
