Job Summary
The Communication, Visibility and IT Specialist will strengthen ESD’s public presence by leading strategic communication initiatives that promote the program’s mission, goals, and achievements. The Specialist is responsible for producing and managing high-quality communication materials, overseeing digital and social media platforms, coordinating visibility and outreach activities, and providing IT-related support to enhance program efficiency and digital innovation.

Contract Duration: Six months (extendable up to one year)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Strategic Communication & Visibility
- Develop and implement communication and visibility strategies aligned with ESD’s objectives.
- Produce high-quality materials such as newsletters, brochures, press releases, fact sheets, and success stories.
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all platforms.
- Coordinate visibility campaigns, events, and outreach initiatives to enhance public engagement.
2. Digital Media & Content Management
- Manage and update the website, social media channels, and digital platforms.
- Create engaging multimedia content (graphics, videos, photos).
- Monitor analytics and digital performance to optimize audience engagement.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Media Relations
- Maintain relationships with media partners, stakeholders, and relevant institutions.
- Prepare media kits, coordinate interviews, and support public events.
- Document program activities through photography, video, and written coverage.
4. Information Technology Support
- Provide IT support, including troubleshooting hardware/software issues.
- Manage digital tools, platforms, and databases for program reporting.
- Ensure data security, backups, and digital information management.
5. Monitoring, Reporting & Knowledge Management
- Track communication/visibility activities and prepare periodic reports.
- Maintain organized repositories of communication products and digital assets.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing and dissemination of program results.
6. Communications Management
- Facilitate development of communication strategies and set priorities with teams.
- Lead visibility, communication, and influencing campaigns.
- Ensure responsible and compliant use of information, images, and brand assets.
- Support fundraising efforts through strategic communication.
- Promote ESD’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
- Coordinate external communications supporting advocacy and campaigns.
7. Press and Media Management
- Prepare media materials for engagements/events.
- Serve as a point of contact for press and media inquiries.
- Facilitate innovative opportunities to showcase ESD’s work.
8. Digital Marketing
- Support updates to program websites.
- Develop and implement social media content strategies.
- Ensure compliance with partnership communication requirements.
- Implement innovative digital marketing campaigns to enhance brand visibility
Qualifications & Relevant Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, or related fields (required).
- Master’s degree in the above or related fields (preferred).
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in communication, visibility, or public relations within NGOs, development programs, or international organizations.
- Proven experience developing communication strategies, managing media relations, and producing quality communication materials.
- Strong content creation experience (writing, editing, and publishing) in Amharic and English.
- Experience managing websites, social media platforms, and digital campaigns.
- Familiarity with CMS (e.g., Word Press) and graphic design tools is an asset.
- Experience organizing public events, press briefings, and awareness campaigns.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Amharic and English.
- Strong interpersonal and networking abilities.
- High creativity, attention to detail, and ability to simplify technical information.
- Ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of donor communication requirements (EU, UN, etc.) is an advantage.
