Role Overview
CHADET-ETHIOPIA is launching a specialized initiative in partnership with the ILO to provide inclusive vocational pathways. This project focuses on delivering high-quality apprenticeships for refugees, women, and marginalized host community members within the construction and hospitality sectors of Addis Ababa.
Your Impact
As the lead for Gender and Protection, you will ensure that every phase of the project—from recruitment to workplace placement—is safe, equitable, and inclusive. You will be responsible for embedding safeguarding standards and disability inclusion into the core of our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate gender equality, disability inclusion, and safeguarding principles across all project activities.
- Support gender and protection-sensitive beneficiary selection and placements for apprenticeship.
- Train TVET instructors and in-company supervisors on gender-sensitive supervision, inclusion, and PSEA.
- Monitor apprenticeship sites for compliance with protection and non-discrimination standards.
- Establish referral and feedback mechanisms for apprentices facing protection concerns.
- Contribute to reporting and documentation of gender and protection outcomes.
- Ensure the participation of women, refugees, and persons with disabilities.
- Oversee the observance of ILO and CHADET’s Protection policy, ‘Do No Harm’ principles in the implementation of the project.
- Coordinate action on the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and the implementation of referral pathways.
Qualification
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Gender Studies, Social Work, or a related social science field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in social inclusion, safeguarding, or gender-focused programming, ideally within livelihood or refugee contexts.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of PSEA standards, refugee protection frameworks, and gender-transformative methodologies.
- Skills: Strong background in project management and advocacy campaigns.
