Background

The Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Institute (ATI) is a government institute aimed at accelerating the growth and transformation of Ethiopia’s agriculture sector. The ATI focuses on improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers (SHFs) for enhanced income, inclusiveness, resilience, and sustainability.

Position Summary

Collect funds and effect payments according to ATI standard procedures. The main function is to manage financial transactions related to the regional ATI office.

Essential Duties

• Prepare receipt vouchers and collect cash/cheques from various sources.
• Ensure all collections and payments are documented with serially pre-numbered vouchers.
• Prepare payment sheets and effect payments as per ATI policy.
• Record daily transactions and perform account reconciliations.
• Maintain custody of financial documents and files.
• Manage petty cash fund and prepare cash reports.
• Request replenishment of petty cash when necessary.
• Prepare receipts for government withheld taxes.
• Obtain VAT registration certificates from suppliers.
• Safeguard payments and supporting documents until transferred to head office.
• Prepare VAT and WHT reports.
• Scan and attach financial documents on Agresso Finance.
• Maintain copies of each payment for reconciliation.
• Prepare receipt vouchers for personal refunds.
• Prepare weekly cash positions for bank signatories.
• Reconcile cash accounts with financial documents.
• Pay all office bills on time.
• Comply with all relevant ATI policies and procedures.
• Ensure effective use of ATI resources to keep costs low.
• Assist the Senior Finance Officer in daily routines.

Required Qualifications

• BA degree in accounting from a recognized university/college
• At least two years related work experience
• Skill in overall cash management
• Knowledge of Microsoft applications; accounting software knowledge is advantageous.
• Good knowledge of spoken and written English and Amharic is highly desired.
