Purpose of Job

The Food Systems Resilience Program for Eastern and Southern Africa Project (FSRP) is funded by the World Bank with the objective to increase the resilience of food systems and preparedness for food security in targeted parts of Eastern and Southern Africa.

Main Functions

  • Provide technical guidance, recommendations, and support for the implementation of the FSRP project.
  • Support the implementation of project activities and monitor progress, including timely reporting.
  • Assist the FSRP Project Coordinator in the daily management of the project.
  • Promote project activities by preparing leaflets, guidelines, and fact sheets.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop information and knowledge products including lessons learned and best practices.
  • Support MS and RECs to organize, package, utilize, and disseminate relevant information.
  • Create KM products to demonstrate the project's role in supporting agriculture transformation in Africa.
  • Establish and guide a Community of Practice (CoP) initiative.
  • Identify, plan, and organize trainings and outreach activities.
  • Cooperate with relevant stakeholders and partners on KM issues.
  • Coordinate and monitor learning and KM.
  • Create and maintain a database of stakeholders and disseminate relevant information.
  • Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise.
  • Assist in the development of a resource mobilization strategy.
  • Generate and compile accurate reports in a timely manner.
  • Mobilize technical assistance for project implementation.
  • Draft reports and presentations as needed.
  • Organize international/inter-governmental meetings and advocate for strategic partnerships.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication or related fields with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Or a Master’s degree in communication or related fields with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in working on large and complex development projects.
  • Experience in the production of knowledge management and communication materials.

Required Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Sound planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in one of the AU working languages; fluency in another AU language is an added advantage.
