Job Summary
Ethio Fruit PLC is seeking a capable and detail-oriented Technical Support Engineer to strengthen our avocado oil processing plant's technical operations. This role focuses on:
- Equipment diagnostics
- Interpreting technical manuals
- Improving SOPs
- Serving as the technical communication bridge with equipment vendors
The engineer will work closely with the Technical Manager and support the operators in minimizing downtime and improving machine performance.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment & Technical Support
- Assist with troubleshooting issues in decanter, malaxer, centrifuge, and auxiliary systems
- Read and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and control panel instructions
- Configure inverters, PLC settings, and sensor calibrations under supervision
- Support implementation of preventive maintenance schedules
Documentation & Communication
- Develop and update SOPs for machines
- Maintain logs of technical issues, interventions, and resolutions
- Communicate with international vendors for parts, diagnostics, and remote support
- Translate technical documents and instructions into simplified guides for local teams
Improvement & Monitoring
- Identify recurring issues and propose preventive or corrective measures
- Support in setting up monitoring tools (sensors, alarms, inverter logs)
- Assist in training operators on equipment best practices and safety
Qualifications:
- BSc or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Electromechanical Technology, or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an industrial or agro-processing environment
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams (English proficiency required)
- Experience with inverter systems (e.g., ABB, Delta); basic PLC understanding is a plus
- Familiar with safety and hygiene standards in food or oil processing
