Reach The Needy – Ethiopia (RTN-Ethiopia) is a child focused community based, not for profit, non-religious and discrimination free indigenous humanitarian national organization that exists to help the Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable children become productive, confident and responsible citizens, parents and leaders of tomorrow that directly involve and contribute for the development of the country. RTN has been working different development & humanitarian programs in partnership with ChildFund, CARE Ethiopia, PLAN Ethiopia and UNICEF.

Required Qualification and Experience

Education: Four years of relevant work experience for High School Graduates.

• Proven ability for TVET graduates.
• 3rd-grade valid license and other mechanical training are considered an asset.
• Must have good knowledge of both spoken and written English, safe driving ability, and adherence to RTN’s driving and vehicle management as well as government regulations.
• Good communication and social skills.
• Proven track record to work under pressure.
• NGO experience is a plus.
• Excellent mechanical know-how and skills.
• Terms of employment: One-year contract with the possibility of extension based on availability of funds and work performance.
• Language ability: Good communication skills in Amharic & English. Knowledge of the local language of the working area is advantageous.
• Salary: As per the organization scale.
• Place of work: RTN Coordination office in Dilla town, Gedeo Zone, SNNPR.

Basic Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure that all vehicle’s and driver’s documents are in the vehicle, i.e., driving license, registration papers, insurance, etc.
• Ensure that everyone in the vehicle is wearing a seat belt.
• Ensure that no material is taken out of the vehicle without prior authorization.
• Use vehicle Logbook to monitor movements, services, accidents, refueling, mileage, etc.
• Keep the vehicle clean and tidy at all times.
• The driver is obliged to act in compliance with traffic laws and regulations.
• The driver must serve in a normal mood and mind, not under the influence of any type of drug or liquor.
• Check the fuel, water, oil, and tires of the vehicle on a daily basis.
• Ensure seat belts and other safety equipment are in good working order.
• Carry out minor repairs directly and promptly report the need for garage repair.
• Prepare spare parts required for vehicle maintenance & confirm that all purchased spare parts are used for the intended vehicle.
• When garage repair or service is authorized, arrange for the vehicle to be taken to the garage for repair or service.
• Closely follow up and support the repair and maintenance activities. Ensure the garage made the maintenance properly.
• Confirm that maintained vehicles are functioning properly.
• The position holder should make timely requests for 5000Kms and 10,000Kms service.
• Make timely requests for minor maintenance as vital.
• Make follow-ups on maintenance at the garages.
• Return all old parts that are replaced during maintenance.
• The driver is responsible for accurately completing log sheets.
• The driver is encouraged to immediately complete and submit an incident report and police report in case of an accident.
