Qualification

  • Required Education: BSc or higher in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, or Public Health
  • Experience: 3+ years (in MHPSS, preferably NGO)

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of Needs: Conduct assessments to identify the psychosocial needs of affected individuals and communities.
  • Individual Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to help individuals cope with stress, anxiety, and trauma related to the outbreak.
  • Group Therapy: Facilitate group therapy sessions to foster peer support and collective healing within affected communities.
  • Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate psychological support during crises, such as after a death or severe illness.
  • Community Awareness Programs: Develop and implement educational programs to raise awareness about mental health and available psychosocial support.
  • Capacity Building: Train local health workers and communities.
  • Support for Families: Provide support to families of cholera patients, addressing their emotional and psychological needs.
  • Coping Strategies: Teach coping strategies and stress management techniques to help individuals manage their emotional responses.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for the inclusion of psychosocial support in health response plans and funding proposals.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and interventions to track progress and needs.
  • Culturally Sensitive Practices: Ensure that all psychosocial support activities are culturally sensitive and appropriate for the community.
  • Feedback Collection: Gather feedback from participants to improve service delivery and ensure it meets the community's needs.
  • Follow-Up Support: Provide ongoing follow-up support to individuals who have received services, ensuring continued access to necessary resources and addressing any emerging issues.
  • Funnel Questioning: Utilize the funnel questioning method to assess the emotional and psychological needs of individuals, starting with broad inquiries and narrowing down to specific issues.
  • Writing Case Stories: Document individual experiences through case stories to illustrate the impact of psychosocial support and identify common themes in community needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the project coordinator.
