Purpose of Job

The Food Systems Resilience Program for Eastern and Southern Africa Project (FSRP) is funded by the World Bank with the objective to increase the resilience of food systems and preparedness for food security in targeted parts of Eastern and Southern Africa.

Main Functions

  • Provide technical guidance and support for the implementation of the FSRP project for climate-smart agriculture technologies.
  • Coordinate the preparation and effective implementation of the program developed out of the FSRP.
  • Liaise with Member States, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure enhanced coordination with AUDA-NEPAD and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee project procurement management.
  • Support the promotion of project activities, including preparing leaflets and guidelines.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Draft background papers, analysis, reports, and studies on emerging issues related to the FSRP project.
  • Assign tasks to internal teams.
  • Monitor project progress and handle any issues that arise.
  • Coordinate the preparation and development of reports, budgets, and work programs.
  • Assist in the development of a resource mobilization strategy with donor coordination.
  • Supervise and manage employees regarding organization and performance evaluation.
  • Generate and compile accurate reports in a timely manner for the Directorate.
  • Mobilize technical assistance for enhancing the implementation of the FSRP project.
  • Coordinate technical work related to organizational development and partnerships.
  • Provide support to strengthen food control systems in AU Member States.
  • Organize international meetings and advocate for strategic partnerships.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

  • Master’s degree in an agricultural-related discipline with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Or Bachelor’s degree with 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in development project management.

TENURE OF APPOINTMENT

The appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract for a period of one (1) year, with the first three (3) months considered a probationary period. The contract may be renewed subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
