Role Summary
We’re seeking a dedicated, hands-on Country Manager to lead our impactful operations in Harar and Eastern Ethiopia. You will play a key role in:
- Expanding Fair Planet’s outreach
- Strengthening field programs
- Building strong partnerships
- Driving measurable social and economic change
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of farmer training and agricultural capacity-building programs
- Recruit, manage, and develop a high-performing local team
- Build partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and community stakeholders
- Oversee regional budgets and ensure responsible financial management
- Implement data-driven monitoring and evaluation practices
- Resolve field challenges with proactive, creative solutions
Requirements
Experience & Knowledge
- 3+ years in project management within international development, agriculture, or rural community work
- Experience working with smallholder farmers and sustainable agriculture techniques
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Technologically literate (Word, Excel; monday.com is a plus)
- Analytical, adaptable, and self-motivated in challenging field environments
Education & Language
- Bachelor’s degree (Agriculture - preferable, Development, Social Sciences, etc.) – required
- Master’s Degree in relevant fields – Advantage
- Proficiency in Amharic and Afaan Oromo – required
- Excellent spoken and written English – required
Commitment
- Willingness to reside in Harar and travel frequently within Eastern Ethiopia
