Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely execution of accounting tasks, such as:

• Payment processing
• Tax compliance
• Inventory and asset accounting
• Payroll management
• Audit support

This role ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations, working closely with finance, HR, and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Payments & Expense Recording: Record all payments into the Sage accounting system by category.
• Payroll Management: Collect payroll inputs from HR (benefits, deductions, etc.).
• Tax Compliance & Reporting: Review and submit monthly VAT and withholding tax reports.
• Inventory & Fixed Assets: Lead and coordinate monthly physical inventory counts.
• Revenue Accounting: Issue sales receipts in line with contract terms.
• Financial Analysis & Reconciliations: Prepare and review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of quarterly budgets.
• Audit & Compliance: Assist with internal and external audit requirements.

Competencies & Skills

• Proficiency in accounting software such as Peachtree and Sage 50.
• Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax regulations and reporting requirements.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and product costing.
• Excellent reconciliation, analytical, and financial reporting skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong integrity and sense of accountability.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive and willing to learn.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing company is strongly preferred.
