Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely execution of accounting tasks, such as:
- Payment processing
- Tax compliance
- Inventory and asset accounting
- Payroll management
- Audit support
This role ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations, working closely with finance, HR, and operational teams.
Responsibilities
- Payments & Expense Recording: Record all payments into the Sage accounting system by category.
- Payroll Management: Collect payroll inputs from HR (benefits, deductions, etc.).
- Tax Compliance & Reporting: Review and submit monthly VAT and withholding tax reports.
- Inventory & Fixed Assets: Lead and coordinate monthly physical inventory counts.
- Revenue Accounting: Issue sales receipts in line with contract terms.
- Financial Analysis & Reconciliations: Prepare and review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of quarterly budgets.
- Audit & Compliance: Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
Competencies & Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Peachtree and Sage 50.
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and product costing.
- Excellent reconciliation, analytical, and financial reporting skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong integrity and sense of accountability.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive and willing to learn.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing company is strongly preferred.
