The Job
We are seeking a Business & Investment Analyst to join our team and support our work by:
- Analyzing markets
- Identifying opportunities
- Providing actionable insights for clients and partners
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate would have a strong background and/or experience in project management with the ability to:
- Understand business needs
- Build a project management office that responds to these needs
- Demonstrate strong judgment in various situations
- Exhibit strong presentation and influencing skills
- Communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Organize tasks efficiently
Duties and Responsibilities
Market & Investment Analysis
- Conduct sectoral research in priority industries (technology, agriculture, manufacturing, services, renewable energy, etc.)
- Analyze macroeconomic trends, investment regulations, and policy developments in Ethiopia and the region
- Prepare investment briefs, opportunity notes, and feasibility studies for internal and client use
- Track foreign direct investment (FDI) trends, donor funding flows, and emerging partnership opportunities
Business Development Support
- Assist in developing concept notes, proposals, and pitch decks for clients, donors, and investors
- Identify and track tenders, consultancy calls, and grant opportunities relevant to KEMMCOM
- Support pipeline management through research and due diligence on potential partners and clients
Financial & Economic Modelling
- Develop financial models to assess the viability of new projects and investments
- Provide cost–benefit and ROI analyses for client strategies and internal projects
- Support the design of greenfield projects and investment cases
Reporting & Communication
- Draft high-quality reports, policy briefs, and presentations for clients, investors, and stakeholders
- Synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights and visualizations
- Collaborate with communications colleagues to turn analysis into thought leadership content
Experience and Skillset
- Five years of experience working with or in a large company in Ethiopia with a track record of successful project delivery in investment analysis, consulting, financial advisory, or development finance
- Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s business and investment landscape; regional knowledge is a plus
- Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills
- Proficiency in Excel (financial modeling), PowerPoint, and data visualization tools
- Experience preparing reports for investors, donors, or consulting clients
- A strong track record of setting and meeting pre-defined targets
- Excellent oral representation, writing, and reading skills in English; ability to communicate in more than one Ethiopian language is strongly desired
- Ability to adapt to changes in a fast-growing company and provide solutions to these growing pains
- Ability to think strategically and execute with efficiency
- Ability to put the customer first in every interaction involving the company and always look for ways to improve the customer experience
- Ability to work cross-functionally with teams and negotiate constructively for business and investment growth
- Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with current and potential clients
- Expert-level written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic
- Highly resourceful team player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
