Sr. Head Accountant

Job Summary

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Head Accountant to oversee the financial and accounting operations of a fast-growing organization engaged in import, export, and manufacturing activities. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid background in corporate finance and hands-on expertise in managing complex financial systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, ledgers, and LC documentation for imports.
• Lead the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Conduct cost analysis and build standard cost models for production, ensuring accurate profit margin reporting.
• Supervise payroll processing (wages, taxes, benefits) and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Oversee tax reporting (VAT, WHT, Income Tax, Pension) and ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws.
• Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and ensure the availability of funds for operations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and year-end closing processes.
• Mentor and lead junior accountants, creating a high-performance team environment.
• Ensure proper integration of accounting systems with HR, payroll, and general ledger.
• Work closely with senior management on financial strategies and operational improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or professional certification is a plus).
• Minimum 6+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Proven experience working in import/export and manufacturing companies is highly preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of financial accounting standards, taxation, and reporting.
• Strong computer literacy with accounting software and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
